LASVAC- TRUST (LASsa VACcine- Transational Research on Understanding Vaccine Readiness in Lassa Fever in Susceptible Target Communities) is multi-country mixed-methods co-creative vaccine preparedness study of a potential future Lassa fever vaccine in five different endemic study sites in West Africa.
Lassa fever is a zoonotic disease, caused by the RNA Lassa virus, a WHO priority pathogen. Currently, no effective vaccine against Lassa fever has been approved, but some promising Lassa vaccine candidates are undergoing clinical development. Additionally, up until today, no study has assessed Lassa fever vaccination readiness in the aPected communities in West Africa. In light of the availability of an approved Lassa fever vaccine in the nearby future, these insights are pivotal for crafting effective vaccine implementation strategies and targeted interventions aimed at reducing and preventing vaccine hesitancy among the populations of the affected countries.
